Do Rickson Ridge homes have asbestos in popcorn ceilings?

Some Rickson Ridge homes may contain asbestos in their popcorn ceilings, depending on when the house was built. Chrysotile asbestos was commonly mixed into ceiling texture through the 1970s and into the mid-1980s, so any home in the area built or textured before that period should be treated as suspect until tested. Homes built after the mid-1980s are much less likely to contain it, but testing is the only way to know for certain.

Under Ontario Regulation 278/05, testing is required before disturbing any suspect ceiling material — removal itself is not legally mandated, and the Ontario Building Code does not regulate popcorn ceilings. We coordinate lab testing at cost, $300–$500, with no markup.

If your ceiling tests clear, our all-inclusive pricing is:

  • Unpainted popcorn ceiling: $4.50/sqft (removal, 2 skim coats, primer, 2 coats paint)
  • Latex-painted ceiling: $6.50/sqft
  • Oil-base painted ceiling: $7.50/sqft

A typical 3-bedroom home runs $2,000–$4,500. Call (519) 729-7394 to book testing or get a quote. KW Popcorn Ceiling Removal · Guelph service area · Google Reviews
